Check out the Awesome: Erickson Elementary School

By Danica Weager, District Indigenization Coordinator

Students and staff have been very busy this year!

Check out some of the pictures below:

  • The Gr. 2/3 class decorating the front fence along the highway with orange hearts
  • Erickson’s Gr. 2/3 class learning Metis jigging by zoom
  • Gr 2/3 class with Metis coloring pages
  • K/1 class reading "Mama Do You Love Me?"

  • Students at Erickson Elementary School in Creston learned how to make beaded poppies this year to honour the contributions and sacrifices of Indigenous Veterans. Under the guidance of Aboriginal Youth Worker and Family Liaison, Janet Zarchukoff, students learned traditional skills for a contempary project with a meaningful purpose. Thank you, Janet, for providing this opportunity for students.

You can learn more about beaded poppies and the meaning behind them here
