Holiday Wishes from the District AbEd Team

By Danica Weager, District Indigenization Coordinator

Some beautiful holiday wishes from Gail Higginbottom, District Principal of Aboriginal Education:

"Hello team, students, families and welcome to holidays!  Whether that looks like moguls or bunny hills, hot tea or hot chocolate, fireside or wool blankets, board games or book reading or beading – know that we will be thinking of you all as you rest up over these well-deserved winter holidays.  This time of year always reminds me of how thankful I am for family teachings of preparedness: firehood, dehydrating, canning, fishing, hunting, and berry picking.  There are times in the year where it is so full getting ready for winter, I wonder how I will get it all done, but somehow it always happens.  We do our best.  So, when this holiday comes, I get ready to do things differently myself.  Let the calendar go.  Sleep and nap.  Play.  Visit with friends and family and connect to some who are further away.  I wish you all the magic in this season of snow – whatever that looks like to you.  Take care and know our circle is there with you, always.”
