Tuition Waiver for Former Youth In Care

By Jesse Halton, District Indigenization Coordinator

Do you support a student who is in care of the MCFD?  If this student is heading to post-secondary (college, university, trades), there are opportunities for a Tuition Waiver Program from the BC Government. “The Provincial Tuition Waiver Program supports B.C. students who are former youth in care who are attending either full-time or part-time studies at a B.C. public post-secondary institution, Native Education College or one of 10 eligible union trades training centres.” Other post-secondary institutions, such as UBC, offer further assistance opportunities for former youth in care.
