School District No. 8 (Kootenay Lake) announced today that the following school principal and vice-principal transfers, appointments and retirements will come into effect August 1, 2023:  

District-Wide

Principal Ken Wiens is leaving Erickson Elementary to take on the role of district principal for SD8’s online learning programs including Elev8 DESK – a Provincial Online Learning School (POLS) - and the hybrid online/in-person program, Homelinks. Principal Wiens will take over from District Principal Rob Simpson who is retiring in 2023.

November was Métis Awareness Month and SD8 educators and students of all ages participated in multiple events throughout the month, both in person and online.  

We acknowledge, respect and honour the First Nations in whose traditional territories the Kootenay Lake School District operates and all Aboriginal people residing within the boundaries of School District #8.
