Check out the Awesome: Wildflower Creston
It has been a very busy spring at Wildflower, and with many activities happening over the last few weeks, we were finally able to complete this wonderful art project. Throughout the year, students have been learning that Métis people are an important part of Indigenous history and culture. More specifically, they are well known for their intricate floral beadwork which is often featured on clothing and accessories. Traditionally, Métis Dot Art is created with paint on black felt and is inspired by beautiful floral beadwork designs.
To introduce this activity to students, we watched this video by Marissa Magneson.
In order to support the various grades and ages within the Wildflower classroom, students used paint, cotton swabs, and watercolour paper to create their own Métis Dot Art masterpieces for Mother’s Day.
