September was a busy month filled with adjustments, new routines, and new connections.  Jesse and Liv, Aboriginal Academic Success Teachers, had a fabulous time connecting with our new Grade 10 cohort and reconnecting with 11s and 12s and are thrilled to have the opportunity to work together on creating a rich, exciting, Ab Ed program for the 2022/23 school year!

There are still two more virtual beading sessions in October! All are welcome to come together via Microsoft Teams to share beadwork teachings together in a safe and supported space. Sessions take place on Wednesday October 19 and 26th from 12:30-1:15pm.

Come join Jesse and Danica for teachings on how to make a beaded poppy to honour Indigenous Veterans.

Aboriginal Education in School District 8, Kootenay Lake, is honoured to continue growing awareness for survivors of the Indian Residential School system in Canada, and those who did not return. This year, we recognise Orange Shirt Day at all schools and programs in our District and will provide information and resources for the National Day for Truth & Reconciliation.
